Nervous Behaviour
I think in some parallel universe if I hadn’t decided to blog about covers, Versions could have easily been a classic house/acid house blog. I’ve been a fanatical collector since I was young; by a random stroke of luck was fortunate to have been exposed to house music back in 86′ at the age of 15 (Yes I’m old. Don’t rub it in.). While most of my original vinyl bit the dust in a flood a few years back, I still do have a small pile of original 12″s and rare white labels from back in the day and the rest is in that newfangled MP3 format. Anyway as much as I’d love to indulge my Balearic pipe-dream, there are far better blogs out already tackling it (might I recommend my colleague’s blog The Acid House for starters).
Today’s cover is kind of a double whammy as we got DJ Buck covering classic acid house track, Nervous Acid by Bobby Konders, in a rather brilliant leftfield/analog- sounding fashion. It was the San Francisco-based Buck who would lead all of us late 80s Bay Area acid/house fanatics into the 90s and onto the next thing, Rave (circa 1990′, long before it got hijacked by the glowsticks and Burning Man crowd).
Anyway Bobby is not just a house legend, but is also responsible for being a seminal hip hop and reggae/dub NYC DJ as well. I’m glad to see that someone is finally giving him his dues, doubly so cause it’s Buck. Thanks Buck.
Enjoy!
LS
PS Those in Thee Versions Galore Facebook Fanclub who may have missed it the first time round, got the original hanging on the wall for ya.

Dear Leo, don’t worry, compared to me you are a “junger Hüpfer”, a “young jumper”, as we’d say in Germany. I was 15 in the year of 1972.
So, I think you ought to feel a bit better now
And although you’re a KID, I always enjoy your posts, ain’t that great? ;-D
Greetings, Tom

The artwork is so great here that it made me curious about the song. And it’s good too.

Nein.
Ich habe einige Deutsche freunde.
That said I got a C- (a very poor grade) in German in high school.
I tried to convince my parents that it was because my teacher was secretly a Nazi in hiding and that she had it out for me because I was Jewish.
But then they saw the rest of my grades…
“A ‘C-’ in math too??? So I guess your Algebra teacher must be a secret Nazi as well huh?’
